3 Tips to a successful Wedding Video Shoot

August 11th, 2010

“It was all a big blur!” is a common response of brides as they describe their wedding day festivities. That is when wedding Videography comes to place. The advantage of having your wedding captured on video allows for the captured sounds, conversations, actions and mood of the wedding to be relived endless times.

However finding a great videographer is not enough for a successful wedding video shoot. It is a combination of multiple elements. iStock_000010692479XSmall

Package – Understand the package that you are purchasing. Make sure you know how long your wedding is and which parts will be captured compared to the package you choose. Know what is included in your package as a final product, which brings me to knowing the edit style that your videographer uses to tell your unique story. But that is a topic for another day.

Communication – At the very beginning of your wedding planning process, share the vision of your wedding day with your wedding videographer. Let them understand the theme of your wedding day, if there is one, for that will emphasize the elements that will carry your storyline. If you have a moment or moments that are dear to you make a point to mention it. Noting is too small to be captured.

Timeline – Create a timeline. It is crucial to have a timeline of your wedding day that you share with all of your vendors. Some brides create one by themselves and others may have a wedding planner do that for them. If you have a wedding planner, make sure to be part of the planning process. Be aware of what is on your timeline and if the timeline is complete.

There have been times where a performance or reading by a friend or family member is incorporated into the reception or service and none of the vendors are aware of it. Despite the hectic activities of the last week, finalize your timeline and send out an update to all your vendors.

Have a successful shoot. It’s your wedding day!

How to book the Wedding Venue you fell in love with!

January 23rd, 2009

There are times in life when our hearts are set on something and we can’t quite let go. But with a little bit of effort we may actually get it. That can happen with Wedding Venues. Many times brides may fall in love with one specific place. However, due to budget restrictions or other unforeseen reasons end up not being able to book it. Like any other metropolis; Austin Wedding Venues range from private ranches, resorts, hotels, Inns, banquet halls, restaurants, clubs, gardens, museums, mansions and yachts on Lake Austin. Now let’s cover options that we have in getting the Wedding Venue of our dreams:

Rates are seasonal.

Some Wedding Venues have off and high season rates. Off season rates at times are a good percentage off the full price. The wedding industry considers early spring, late fall and mid-winter periods to be off season. Rates may also vary based on the day of the week. Saturday is usually I the most popular and most expensive day. However if you are open to holding your wedding on a weekday or a Sunday, you may get a discount.

Time of the day might affect rates.

You can hold your wedding earlier in the day and offer a luncheon instead of dinner. Either way your wedding can be as glamorous as a Saturday evening wedding. This arrangement could drop the price.

Divide the cost.

These days there are no formal rules on who pays for the wedding. If you have friends and family buying you gifts perhaps they venue might have gift certificate or you could opt for debit cards which you can use it lower the overall cost of the venue and could put a significant dent in your venue expenses if you have good participation.

Be flexible with your wedding planning

If it means that you can change your wedding date to book a venue, well take that date into consideration. Just keep in mind that popular Wedding Venues can be booked 6 to 12 months out. Arm yourself with questions that you can discuss with the site coordinator. It helps if you have a vision of how you want your wedding day to unfold.  Keep in mind that expensive venues don’t make a wedding. You are the center of your wedding day! So if you find an interesting and romantic place that you consider it to be perfect, share it with your family and friends. As always your Austin wedding videographer
